Bio-packaging Solutions For the Jewellery Industry

Ecological facts

The world has produced over 9 Billion tons of plastics. 165 million tons of it has trashed our ocean, with almost 9 million more tons entering the oceans each year. Only about 9 percent of plastic gets recycled, much of the rest pollutes the environment or sits in landfills, where it can take up to 500 years to decompose while leaking toxic chemicals into the ground.

After over a decade working with jewellery manufacturers and brands across Europe and Asia we figured it was time to bring on the market some solution to help reducing the environmental impact of the jewellery industry. We created a GREEN department within CORADAM offices in Bangkok and partner with a pioneering biomaterials research company based in Thailand to develop jewellery specific packaging and distribute them around the globe.

HOW CORADAM GREEN BIOPLASTICS WORK?

BIODEGRADABLE AND RECYCLABLE

Coradam Green's bioplastics are biodegradable. They break down into elements found in nature through a natural process within a short period of time. They are also recyclable and are downgraded to lower quality plastics for other use, such as for furnitures, utensils and toys.

DURABLE ENOUGH FOR INDUSTRIAL USE

There’s no need to worry about the bioplastics breaking down on the shelf. The bioplastic formula for Coradam Green's zip lock bags is designed to last for 5 years under normal use and several months when exposed outdoor or under extreme weather conditions.

REDUCE GAS EMISSIONS WHEN COMPOSTING

Using bioplastics can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. How?

The substitute for recycling for bioplastics is end-of-life compost, as they are broken down into carbon dioxide, water or other materials. We do not release higher gas emissions when composting because the plants absorb the same amount of carbon dioxide that bioplastics produce. Studies show that using corn-based PLA bioplastics would help cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent.

Our products

Coradam Green's Biodegradable zip lock bags follow the industry standards in terms of dimensions, thickness and usability.

With a reliable zip system and a 80 microns thickness, our bags are safe to keep jewellery products, stones and components safe from scratches or loss.

Designed to last several years indoor and only several months when exposed outside or under harsher conditions where traditional plastic bags would take hundreds of years.
